Experience

I have over 6 years of experience as a trained tutor for Top Test Prep, Kaplan Test Company, and Frog Tutoring in MCAT and math and science subjects. I specialize in private one on one tutoring. 800 in SAT Math 800 in SAT Math Subject Test I and II 5's on AP Calculus AB, Chemistry, Biology, English, Spanish IV and V, Statistics, World History, Computer Science National Merit Scholar 2009 Fluent in Mandarin and Spanish (Functional) My tutoring approach is to concentrate on the concepts and not singular problems or scenarios. I believe that we are most successful when we can look at a problem, picture, or situation and then figure out how to ameliorate the issue without resorting to look up the solution in a manual or step by step guide. In the same way, we are most successful academically when we have learned how to apply rudimentary concepts and solve even the most complicated exam questions that our professors throw at us. I see tutoring in a bigger picture. My goal for every student I tutor is that they may be able to critically solve problems for themselves after our session. I have seen many tutors work with their students to complete their homework and ensure that the student performs well on assignments and memorize formulas. Such tutoring does not adequately prepare the student for more advanced exams or courses, essentially a short term gain but a long term loss. My philosophy is to provide the student with the skills and a firm grasp on concepts so that they can succeed in the long run.
